The Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership is seeking local and regional artists, crafters, writers and performers to participate in the third annual Bagdad Village Front Porch Art Stroll from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the picturesque historic waterfront village of Bagdad.
The stroll encompasses a six-block area of front porches and lawns on Badgad’s historic main street, Forsyth Street, as well as side streets leading to the new Ollinger-Bruce Park on the Blackwater River. The village is shaded throughout by moss-draped sprawling live oaks and Southern magnolias.
This year the event will include a children’s art area, more performance venues and storytellers who will talk about years gone by.
The Art Stroll provides a unique venue for local artists to showcase their work and will provide an excellent opportunity for artisans to interact with visitors and community art supporters. Entry fee for vendors is $25, which includes advertising in the event’s program. Limited space is available. Deadline for applications is Oct. 1.
Once a bustling lumber mill village, Bagdad was the center of the Southeastern lumber industry for more than 110 years before closing in 1939. Bagdad was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
